Last October 25, Monday, the nation once again witnessed the holding of the barangay elections - a process wherein the basic communities were to choose from individuals aspiring to serve them or the people from this level. While we are happy to continually have this so-called democratic process, we are saddened by the fact that the same was not spared from anomalies purportedly perpetrated by some political candidates or their supporters. Last Monday, we heard of news about killings and other specters of violence and reports about frauds in some areas in the country.
All these show that we are far from the change we want to have. A change where we will have honest and clean elections.
