Some Recent Editorial Cartoons

Let me review these cartoons. The first one tackled the issue on the upcoming Aquino administration's response to clamor in relation to alleged anomalies under GMA's administration. FG Arroyo reacted to it.

The second editorial cartoon depicted the situation of law enforcement in the face of the current juvenile justice welfare act. CICL means children in conflict with law. Last but not least is my cartoon on the news that reported the reaction of the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board on the labor sector's wage increase.

Tomorrow is June 30, 2010, another historical landmark as we welcome the son of former Pres. Cory Aquino as the 15th president (with VP Jejomar Binay) in a simple inauguration rite.  P-Noy or President Noy will serve a term of six years as president. He is popularly perceived as one who can effect a much-needed change for the country battered with corruption, peace problem, poverty and economic crisis, etc. So, congratulations everyone as we hope for a much better Philippines under the Aquino-Binay administration !

Additional Years for Basic Education?

Based on the news reports, the incoming Aquino Administration is contemplating on adding additional years for the the basic education. In my humble opinion, I don't think this is the right answer to the perceived problem on the quality education we have or maybe not yet. I believe that the problem is not on how many years we spend in the basic education but whether we have given so much support to the education system so that we will be able to produce quality pupils/students. Aside from making the environment conducive to learning, the learning processes and the contents of that processes should be able to draw out from the pupils/students all hidden talents and skills, etc. in a very short period of time if possible.

Forget about other countries, we don't need to jibe with their system. Perhaps, it is high time to forget the systems of other countries in all aspects of our development process.

Yesterday, the unexpected tandem of Noynoy Aquino III and Jejomar Binay was already proclaimed as the 15th and 14th president and vice-president of this country. Vice-president Binay was the dark horse in the election, winning wide margin over Noynoy's VP candidate Sen. Mar Roxas. Well, I hope Senator Roxas will finally put to rest his intention to file a post-election protest. The second highest position in the land is not for him and maybe he can still help the Aquino-Binay administration after a one-year ban. President Aquino already made a statement to tap his talent and expertise.

Even those who did not vote for the Aquino or Binay have only high hope for the newly proclaimed president and vice-president. Well, they are forced to eat. :-). Both during the election campaign promised to make this country a much better place. We are looking forward to that goal.
