Locking Horns with the Media

Sometimes or more often, the tension would arise because of the political supporters who think that they need to protect their candidates from the "political attack." They are the so-called die-hard supporters of any politicos running for certain posts.

This was the tension that arose between the supporters of Mayor Rody Duterte (running for vice-mayor) and the camp of Team Nograles that held a rally in one barangay in the city. Obviously, the tension was fueled by a heckle or there was heckling that happened. House Representative Speaker Prospero "Boy" Nograles is running for mayor. Anyways, thanks that it was right away resolved after cooler heads intervened. Mayor Duterte when interviewed by the local media asked his supporters to refrain from this useless exercise. It should not happen. From the news, I drew a cartoon as posted.

Yet the cartoon is also applicable to the recent issue that  Nograles hurled against the local media that they gave him or his campaign sorties/rallies "unfair" coverage like down-playing the number of supporters participating in his team's political rallies, etc. I don't know if this is true. But local GMA 7 issued an statement that this is not true as far as they were concerned. The local ABS-CBN and other media outfits (radio and print) also belied his accusation.

I just shook my head when I saw that tv coverage showing Nograles reprimanding the local media. I don't know if I am right to say that can fight anyone but do not lock horns with the media especially during this height of electoral campaign.
